The 8th Grade concert band is dedicated to expanding on the instrumental skills learned in 7th grade, as well as incorporating education on more advanced musical concepts such as intonation, balance/blend, and musicality. While we may only scratch the surface of these concepts in 7th grade, the 8th grade class is where we dive deep into these concepts.

In the 8th grade class, instead of being separated by instrument families in their own class period, we instead combine all of the classes into one large class. With all of the students in one class, we can focus on more ensemble-based musical concepts such as intonation, balance/blend, and musicality.

The 8th Grade Band also performs in more performances than the 7th grade band including:

• 4 Quarterly Concerts

• 1 Band Festival

• Diamondbacks Game (stand on field and perform the National Anthem)

• California Tour (included in Disneyland Trip)
