Flute

Supply List for Flute

  • Instrument

  • Label – Include first and last name, school, and contact phone # – (Luggage tags work well)

  • Cleaning/tuning rod – should come with the flute when renting or purchasing

  • Cleaning cloth (a handkerchief or piece of an old t-shirt works great, but it should be cut to approximately 8”x 8”). Only use materials that are free of lint. Silk is great, as it is lint free and also very absorbent. 

  • Black Binder  (.5 or 1-inch) 

  • 15 – 20 clear protective sheets 

  • Pencil

Clarinet

SUPPLY LIST for CLARINET

  • Instrument

  • Three or more reeds in working condition at all times. Van Doren or Mitchell Lurie preferred, strength 2.5 or 3. 

  • Cleaning swab, silk or handkerchief style preferred

  • Cork grease

  • Optional: mouthpiece cushion and thumb cushion

  • Black Binder  (.5 or 1-inch) 

  • 15 – 20 clear protective sheets

  • Pencil

Alto Saxophone

Tenor/bari saxophone

SUPPLY LIST for TENOR or BARI SAXOPHONE

  • Instrument – School may be able to supply, please complete this School Loan Form, if needed

  • Label – Include first and last name, school, and contact phone # – (Luggage tags work well)

  • Three or more reeds in working condition at all times. Van Doren or Hemke brands are  preferred, with a strength of 2.5 (or 3 if you’ve played all summer). Tenor saxes need three working reeds at all times, and Bari saxes need two working reeds at all times. 

  • Cleaning swab, silk or handkerchief style preferred

  • Cork grease (might come with instrument)

  • Neck Strap (should come with instrument)

  • Black Binder  (.5 or 1-inch) 

  • 15 – 20 clear protective sheets

French Horn

SUPPLY LIST for FRENCH HORN

  • Instrument – School will supply, please complete the Brass Loan Form found in the Band Handbook.

  • Label – Include first and last name, school, and contact phone # – (Luggage tags work well)

  • Rotor Oil – Hetman 11, and Slide Grease – Hetman Slide Gel

  • Horn students need to be careful about using the correct oil — it is different from all other brass oils!

  • *If you are purchasing your own mouthpiece, I recommend a Holton Farkas, either H2850DC, or H2850MC. It is pricey but it’ll last forever, and with instruments, you get what you pay for. If you buy a cheap mouthpiece it will directly impact your student’s enjoyment of playing — making it more challenging and difficult than it needs to be! The school has mouthpieces to loan, but if you’d like to purchase your own that is great, too.

  • Slide grease – Bach Tuning Slide Grease is recommended, but any slide grease will work

Trombone

  • “Yamaha Slide Lubricant” is recommended, but any trombone slide oil will work (this is for the actual slide)

  • Small Spray Bottle (this is for the actual slide)

  • Slide Grease – Bach Tuning Slide Grease is recommended, but any slide grease will work (this is for the tuning slide, the smaller slide near your face)

  • Soft cloth for wiping down instrument (piece of an old t-shirt works great)

  • Pencil

  • Black Binder  (.5 or 1-inch)

Baritone/Euphonium

  • *Please note, if you are purchasing your own mouthpiece I recommend a Bach 6 ½ AL. It is pricey but it will last forever, and with instruments, you get what you pay for. If you buy a cheap mouthpiece it will directly impact your student’s enjoyment of playing — making it more challenging and difficult than it needs to be! The school has SOME mouthpieces to loan, but if you’d like to purchase your own, that is great, too.

They are pricey but they last forever, and with instruments, you get what you pay for. If you buy a cheap mouthpiece it will directly impact your student’s enjoyment of playing — making it more challenging and difficult than it needs to be! The school has SOME mouthpieces, but if you’d like to purchase your own, that is great, too.

Percussion

SUPPLY LIST for PERCUSSION

  • Soft Yarn Mallets- for use on school marimba, vibraphone, and suspended cymbals.

  • Snare Drum Sticks (SD1 or 5a) – please label with your name

  • Practice pad to use at home. The school can provide this if needed.

  • For at home practice: Bell Kit OR access to a Keyboard or Piano.  If you use a bell kit, be sure it has mallets.  

  • Pencil
